Whether you’re looking for venison or grass-fed beef, First Light’s exceptional cuts are ready for your table.

The History of First Light

In 2003, the First Light founders started thinking about creating a revolutionary new meat company. They wrote down a few values on a piece of paper (like integrity, innovation, happiness, and sustainability) and remain guided by these principles today. Nearly 180 family farms are part of the First Light family, raising 100% grass-fed animals on free-range pastures throughout New Zealand.

First Light Company Mission

First Light’s meat is known for its melt-in-your-mouth texture and beautiful marbling. This brand raises grass-fed Wagyu beef and venison on family farms in New Zealand, where animals are never treated with antibiotics or added hormones.

Benefits of First Light

First Light has garnered numerous awards and certifications over the years, including gold medals at the World Steak Challenge in London and the Steak of Origin competition in New Zealand. This brand raises 100% grass-fed cattle without grains, animal by-products, feedlots, antibiotics, or added hormones, and is the first New Zealand meat company to be awarded the internally recognized Certified Humane® accreditation, which ensures the animals have been raised with the strictest welfare standards in mind.
