When you’re looking to stock your pantry with healthy essentials, chocolate might not be at the top of your list (and surely didn’t make the cut if you’re sticking to a Paleo diet). But Hu is changing the way we think about this classic candy. Using real, unprocessed ingredients that are sourced responsibly, Hu crafts a surprisingly wholesome chocolate line that is also Paleo and vegan-friendly—not to mention the company’s one-of-a-kind dining and shopping experience in New York City. Best of all, the bars and treats are so good, that there’s little chance you’ll miss the typically highly processed conventional chocolate. Learn more about why we’re sweet on Hu.

The History of Hu

The origins of Hu chocolate go back to Hu Kitchen, a New York City–based restaurant and marketplace co-founded by Jordan Brown and Jessica Karp in 2013. Hu Kitchen became the healthy, Paleo-friendly restaurant the duo always wished had existed—and an opportunity to share their unique line of chocolate with the world.

Hu Company Mission

Hu was built around the goal of helping people get back to eating, living, and thriving like humans (which is why the brand is called “Hu”). With a clear mission—to encourage people to “live actively, age gracefully, and flourish”—in mind, the company puts quality at the forefront and shifts the focus away from processed, unsustainable foods in favor of wholesome, nutrient-dense ones.

Benefits of Hu

One of the biggest things that sets Hu’s chocolate apart from competitors, aside from truly distinctive and delicious flavor combinations, is that it’s all Paleo and vegan-friendly. That means it adheres to strict dietary guidelines without sacrificing quality or taste. Here are more of the many benefits you can expect from this unconventional chocolate:

Dairy-free
Gluten-free
Non-GMO
No emulsifiers
No soy lecithin
No refined sugar
No cane sugar
No sugar alcohols
