In the world of snacking must-haves, chips are a go-to basic. But there’s nothing basic about Kettle Foods chips. Kettle Foods products made from wholesome, preservative-free ingredients and seasoned to perfection and when it comes to looking out for the environment, this forward-thinking brand is more than chipping in for the cause. For starters, Kettle Foods has managed to power its own company vehicles on vegetable oil waste obtained from its product manufacturing—and that’s not even the only way the company works to offset its carbon footprint. Read on to learn what makes this pantry favorite a true snacking all-star.

The History of Kettle Foods

Kettle Foods was founded in 1978 by Cameron Healy who had a vision to combine natural ingredients to create a great-tasting, savory snack that everyone could enjoy. Initially, the brand began creating roasted nuts and other natural goodies, but in 1982, Kettle Foods perfected its very first bag of Kettle potato chips. From that day forward, an obsession was born and today the brand has over 700 employees around the world that help get Kettle products to market.

Kettle Foods Company Mission

Kettle Foods has maintained a single philosophy since the brand began back in 1978: Use only the freshest, all-natural ingredients to create intensely flavored, wonderfully craveable potato chips you can feel good about eating.

Benefits of Kettle Foods

Kettle Foods is a brand that prides itself on quality, natural ingredients, sustainable, eco-friendly manufacturing, and giving back to the community. Here are just some of the ways this chip brand sets itself apart from the pack: The brand runs a growing fleet of company vehicles on distilled vegetable oil, known as biodiesel. In fact, 100% of the waste vegetable oil from the production process is converted into biodiesel, which is an alternative to petroleum diesel fuel. The use of biodiesel saves as much as 8 tons in CO2 emissions every year. Traditionally, Kettle Foods’ packaging has been made up of several layers to help provide protection from heat, light, and air. However, by removing the paper layer of the chip bags, the brand has reduced the material by 20%, saving over 22,000 trees annually, and preventing over 450,000 pounds of packaging from going into landfills each year. Kettle Foods proudly donates needed funding, products, and time to local organizations, including donating chips for fundraising events at local schools and volunteering at area nonprofits. The brand also donates more than 175,000 pounds of potatoes to local hunger relief agencies each year.
